Although he finished second in the 400m hurdles at the 2003 USA Outdoor Championships, Woody achieved the highest accomplishment of his career later in the summer in winning the silver medal at the World Outdoor Championships in Paris. Attributing his success to a greater emphasis on strength training, which made him stronger in the final 100 meters of his races, posted six of the top seven 400m hurdles times by an American in 2003. Though a 400m hurdles specialist, Woody made a special engagement with the 800 indoors in 2000, running a 1:49.34 split as lead-off leg on a world-record setting 4x800 relay…won gold medal in 4x400m relay at 1999 IAAF World Championships in Seville, Spain (ran 2nd leg of semifinal). He won 1997 NCAA 400m hurdles title with a then PR of 48.59…placed 4th at 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials (48.83).

2000: Ran lead-off leg (1:49.34) of world-record-setting 4x800m indoor relay ... Combined with Karl Paranya, Rich Kenah and David Krummenacker to break the World Record. Their time of 7:13.94 beat the Soviet Union’s 1971 record of 7:17.8...placed 4th at U.S. Olympic Trials (48.83)...ranked 4th in U.S. by T&FN...best of 48.72
