Carrying dual citizenship with Jamaica, Reid moved to the United States at age 11 and took a few years off from track then went out for cross country as a ninth-grader: 'My coach noticed I had some speed. He asked me to come out for indoor track. I started in the 800 and gradually moved down.' She ended up winning countless high school state titles in Maryland and even lettered twice in cross country. Her high school track team won the state title every year she ran...dropped the baton as anchor of 4th place USA 4x400m relay team at 2001 World Outdoor Championships in Edmonton, but gained redemption when she anchored Team USA to gold at the Goodwill Games, beating Jamaica, which had won gold in Edmonton.
