UCLA ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR (Odds)

Betsy G. Stephenson is in her seventh year as Associate Athletics Director/Senior Women's Administrator at UCLA. Stephenson held the same position at the University of Kansas from 1992-96.

Her duties at UCLA include supervising 12 of the men's and women's sports programs. In addition, she oversees the Recruiting, Academic Services and Student Services. Stephenson also oversees the administration of selected NCAA and conference championships hosted by UCLA.

Received a B.A. from Kansas in 1983. ... Played on Jayhawks' volleyball team.

During her tenure at Kansas, Stephenson supervised 18 men's and women's sports and was responsible for overseeing the operation of KU's strength/conditioning program, promotions/marketing, equipment and athletic merchandise sales.

Stephenson was also a member of a three-person management team responsible for the overall administration of the Athletic Department.

Has a great track record and experience, but would KU hire its first female AD?

Since January 2000, Stephenson has been a member of the NCAA Management Council. The Management Council suggests policies to ensure the proper management of Division I and recommends Division I championships policies and fiscal, competitive and academic policies to the NCAA Board of Directors. She also serves as chair of the Selection Review Subcommittee of that council.

She is also a member of the NACDA/Sears Director's Cup Committee and served a four-year term on the NACDA Executive Committee.

KU associate AD leaves for UCLA (7-2-1996)

Stephenson spent eight and one-half years on the championships staff at the NCAA. From 1990-1993 as Director of Division I Men's Basketball Operations, she served on the management team that administers and coordinates all aspects of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship.

Stephenson earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree at Kansas in May of 1983 and was a member of the Jayhawks' volleyball team.
