Career Overview/Notes

Rideau is going to spell trouble for the defensive backs going up against him this year. The tall, lanky receiver has impressive speed and is expected to be a big factor in KU's passing game. During the 2002 season, he showed improvement in his overall play. His birthday is Oct. 18, 1982. So far, he's undecided on a major.

as a sophomore (2002)

Last year, Rideau was the Jayhawks' fourth-leading receiver, making 27 catches for 307 yards. Rideau got to play in all 12 games and started 10. He averaged 11.6 yards per catch.
He had his best day on Sept. 28 against Tulsa, with five catches and a career-high 93 yards. He tied that with five catches against Baylor. In all, he had multiple catches in seven games. His longest of the season was a 39-yard reception Sept. 7 at UNLV.
Rideau had 25.6 all-purpose yards per game, which ranked him sixth on the team in that category. He also had two pass attempts last year.

as a freshman (2001)

One of just four true freshmen to see playing time, Rideau was used as a reserve in seven games. During the 2001 season, he had two catches for 55 yards. He continued to see more playing time late in the season. In the final game of the season, he had a 46-yard touchdown reception against Wyoming.

High School

Rideau was a quarterback throughout his high school career. But as a senior, he switched to wide receiver and caught 39 passes for 800 yards. He was a first-team, all-district selection. He also played basketball for four years including going 36-0 and winning the Texas 4A state championship as a senior. He also lettered in track, and was a standout member of the 400-meter relay team.
