A late addition to KU's recruiting class after safeties coach Clint Bowen did some research on Fowler and found out he was a qualifier who was still eligible for three years of Division One football. Fowler attended Pasadena City College for track, but later joined the football team. He chose KU over schools such as Arizona, Arizona State and Washington.
