At the end of spring drills, junior Adrian Jones (6-5, 265) had supplanted senior starter David Hurst (6-3, 270) at the top of the depth chart. "The competition between Adrian and David has brought out the best in both of them," Mangino said. What is notable about Jones is that he survived a horrific car accident Thanksgiving weekend pf his redshirt year. The car he was driving on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia blew a tire and rolled. The resulting serious head injury caused him to spend three days in intensive care at Wichita's Wesley Medical Center.

Last year:
Jones saw action in 10 games, catching seven passes for 68 yards and one touchdown. He accounted for KU's only TD on a four-yard pass from Zach Dyer against Nebraska. In that same game he hauled in his career-long reception: 24-yards.
