Making an immediate impact at the 2002 Spring Game in April when he rushed for 75 yards on 20 carries, redshirt freshman Clark Green has put a charge into the Kansas offense. Billed as a better blocker and receiver than Reggie Duncan, the projected starter, Green figures to see a great deal of playing time this year.
The coaching staff credits Green's quick rise to his aggressive, hard-running style and his excellent speed. In his final year of Robinson High School, Tampa, Fla., he rushed for 1,400 yards
"We can't discount Clark Green. It's just that he's had a bunch of nagging injuries that have held him back. Reggie's been durable and going every day. Clark's been practicing, but he doesn't always have the ability to go full speed."
Green's versatility will add a much needed dimension to the Jayhawks' attack.
