When KU released its first updated depth chart, senior Byron Gasaway had moved up one spot and replaced Hill as a starting receiver. Filling those big shoes should not be a problem for Gasaway, one of the most experienced receivers on the team. After fracturing his jaw in a 1999 weight room accident and sitting out that season, he has proven himself a skilled pass catcher and should be on the end of many tosses this year.
Last year:
Gasaway ranked third overall on the squad in receptions with 18 catches (doubling his career total) for 200 yards and one TD. His season-longest was a 31-yard catch against Wyoming. Versus Oklahoma he nabbed five passes for 48 yards and pulled down a nine-yard touchdown pass against Iowa State. Overall, Gasaway caught at least one pass in nine games, playing in all 11 games with four starts.
