#27 Leo Bookman

Defensive Back

6-1 205 So 1L

Dickinson, Texas (Dickinson)
Born: Jan. 3, 1982 in Dickinson, Texas
Major: Psychology.

Sophomore Bookman is a track star: Big 12 champion in track and KU record-holder in the 200- and 60-meter dashes. He's also the starting cornerback. And he wears a size-15 shoe. "They don't slow me down," he said of his pontoons. Bookman has also taken the spot as backup kick returner behind junior receiver Derick Mills.

Last year:
Former coach Terry Allen tinkered with the idea of switching track standout Bookman to running back. Instead, Bookman saw limited action in the 2001 secondary, playing in eight games, and regsitered a solo tackle against Nebraska. He also served on special teams, earning special teams player of the game honor in the season opener against Southwest Missouri State. http://www.kusports.com/news/kusp_football_archive/story/85568 Bookman blazing new trails in KU track, football http://www.kusports.com/news/kusp_football_archive/story/84290 Jayhawks' Bookman wins 200 at Big 12 Indoor http://www.kusports.com/news/kusp_football_archive/story/49708 Speedy Bookman gives running back try
