UAB's 'hell' hath no fury
Kansas shreds press, rolls into Elite Eight
St. Louis - Alabama-Birmingham didn't exactly put Kansas University through 40 minutes of hell Friday night. It was more like 40 minutes of hilarity for the No. 4-seeded Jayhawks, who shredded UAB's vaunted press in racing to a 100-74 victory over the No. 9-seeded Blazers -- KU's most lopsided win in 23 Sweet 16 appearances. "It was like playing in the rec center -- attack, take it to the hole when you're not guarded and score," KU junior guard Keith Langford said after scoring nine points at the Edward Jones Dome. "We had a lotta, lotta easy baskets tonight." Full story.
KU unveils fieldhouse seating results
Kansas University Athletic Department officials Thursday sent informational packets to more than 7,200 donors and season-ticket holders explaining men's basketball seating arrangements in Allen Fieldhouse under a new point system. The packets include a letter showing how many points the recipient is thought to have and a chart showing how the system would have worked had it been in effect last season. Full story. Full story.
Bowling with the Jayhawks
Bowled over: Rivers riddles Kansas in Tangerine rout
Kansas University's football team had nearly a month to prepare for Philip Rivers. It wasn't enough. Rivers set North Carolina State and Tangerine Bowl records Monday night at Florida Citrus Bowl for completions (37), completion percentage (82.2), passing yards (475), touchdown passes (five) and total offense (495 yards). Tangerine Bowl officials had billed their game as a high-scoring duel between Rivers and KU's Bill Whittemore. Both senior quarterbacks delivered, but it was Rivers who came out on the winning end of a 56-26 blowout. Full story.
KU Men's Basketball 2003-04 Season Recap
Bill Self's first regular-season at KU was a bit rougher than probably he had hoped, but a 20-7 record highlighted by two victories over Missouri, including one in the Hearnes Center finale, and non-conference wins over Michigan State and Oregon helped blunt the sting from losses to Stanford, Nevada, and Richmond. Inbounds alley-oop
J.R. Giddens inbounds the ball to Aaron Miles, as Wayne Simien and David Padgett set up at the elbows. Keith Langford positions himself in the right corner. After the inbounds pass, Giddens runs a big arc around the left elbow, with Simien setting a pick on the defender trying to catch Giddens. With no one guarding him, Giddens slides behind Simien and his defender, as Miles throws a pass over the man guarding him, which Giddens throws down with an emphatic dunk. View Bill's Clipboard.

The KU Cheerleaders
An inside look at Jayhawk spirit
What came first, cheerleaders or megaphones? Cheerleader lore has it that on Nov. 2, 1898, a University of Minnesota football fan was so upset to see his beloved Golden Gophers heading toward yet another defeat that he jumped from the stands, faced the crowd and led them chanting: "Rah Rah! Sku-u-mah hoo-rah Hoo-rah! Varsity! Varsity! Minn-e-so-tah!" Minnesota lost that football game. But that Minnesota student, Jack Campbell, became the nation's first cheerleader. Read on ...
