Gary Bedore's thoughts: Smart, heady walk on out of Lawrence High figures to fill a Brett Ballard-like role on KU's team. Lots of people think Vinson will be good enough to play some meaningful minutes before his career is over.

He definitely will contribute in practice and in the classroom. He was Sunflower League player of the year his senior year. He could have played mid major basketball - Kansas State made overtures to Vinson - so some recruiters were a bit surprised he accepted a walk-on at KU. He loves the school and the program and figures to be very happy here. He actually has looked quite comfortable at practice. Don't bet against this guy someday making a contribution in games.
