Gary Bedore's thoughts: Nash's teammates will tell you the lanky forward -- does anybody else think he's starting to look like Kenny Gregory? -- is the most athletic player on KU's team and sometimes dominates pick-up games in the offseason.

He's yet to play as well during regular-season practices and games.Coach Roy Williams says his goal is to get Nash to relax this season and show what he can do.

Nash's stint last summer with the Big 12 all-stars likely helped him confidence-wise. Just being selected to the team was an honor for the unheralded player. He didn't dominate on the tour by any means, but scored seven points in two separate games.

Nash will be given every opportunity to play this season. He has a chance of playing significant minutes. KU does need minutes from him.

He will have to earn those minutes by playing some defense and grabbing some boards and not committing silly turnovers.

Highlights: Averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 56 percent in six games last summer for the Big 12 all-stars ... averaged 1.0 ppg and 0.7 boards last season ... hit 11 of 19 free throws ... scored career-high eight points vs. Pittsburg State ... had five points vs. Texas A&M ... hit a three-at home versus Missouri ...
