Gary Bedore's thoughts: Lee was a great football tight end in high school and would have had big-time offers had he not made it clear early on he wanted to play basketball.

Lee has worked on his body and looks more like a basketball player than football player for his sophomore season. He does have a nice stroke from past the three-point line and may ultimately become a three-point specialist if he doesn't improve his ballhandling. He's not a turnover waiting to happen, but needs better handles.

Lee has the potential to be a good to great defensive player, a stopper. He's a smart kid who definitely wants to improve. He hasn't moped about lack of playing time, instead merely has focused on getting better.

Highlights: Played in 27 of KU's 31 games, averaging 3.3 minutes per outing. ... hit 5 of 10 threes. ... had career best seven points against Pittsburg State. ... averaged 19.7 points his senior year at Jefferson High, leading the Democrats to a third-place finish in state ... played a key role in Jefferson's 28-0 record and state championship run as a junior, averaging 12 points and five rebounds per game. ... was named the Portland Interscholastic Defensive Player of the year in football his senior year as a tight end.
