BIOGRAPHY:

Kevin Pritchard had two successful seasons as the Kansas City Knights head coach and his first as the team's general manager. As the team's head coach and director of basketball operations, he played a major role in molding the Knights into the American Basketball Association's model franchise, culminating with a win over the Southern California Surf for the ABA 2002 Championship Title.

¥ Pritchard played at Kansas for two years for Larry Brown and two for Roy Williams. He is a member of the 1988 KU NCAA championship team and finished his career among KU's career scoring, assist, steal and three-point goal leaders.
"We are thrilled and extremely lucky to have Kevin Pritchard as the leader of the Knights - both on the court and in the community," said Knights owner Jim Clark. "Kevin is an outstanding coach and is well respected both in the collegiate and professional basketball arena."

Prior to the 34-5 2002 championship season, Pritchard's Knights overcame the loss of seven players to the NBA in 2001 to finish with a 24-17 record, third best in the ABA. Under his direction, Kansas City was the league's second-highest scoring team with an average of 112 points per game. Because of the seven NBA defections, the Knights were forced to use 23 different players in games during the 2000-2001 campaign, yet remained one of the league's best teams.

The 34-year-old Pritchard has an outstanding basketball pedigree. During his college playing days at the University of Kansas, he was coached by both Larry Brown, now the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, and current Jayhawks head coach Roy Williams. His first head coach as an NBA player was Don Nelson, who now directs the Dallas Mavericks' fortunes.

Pritchard averaged 10.6 points as a sophomore guard on the Jayhawk team that beat Oklahoma, 83-79, in the NCAA title game at Kemper Arena, the Knights home court. He ranks seventh on KU's career scoring list with 1,692 points. He averaged in double figures his final three seasons and was a first team All-Big Eight selection as a senior, when he averaged 14.5 points and had 177 assists. He was also a three-time All-Big Eight Academic Team selection.

Following his distinguished college career, he was chosen in the second round of the 1990 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. He played in 94 games during his four years in the NBA, making stops at Golden State, San Antonio, Boston, Miami, Philadelphia and Vancouver. He played three years in Europe before retiring as a player in 1997.

Pritchard was a McDonald's All-America selection at Tulsa's Edison High School. He and his wife, Shea, have two children, Kevin Jr., and Kendall, and reside in Lawrence, Kan.
