Even with a 3-3 start and missing Wayne Simien for more than half the season, the Jayhawks made an incredible run all the way to the national championship game. Despite losing to Syracuse in the title tilt, the Jayhawks had many highlights during the season a stunning, 33-point victory over Marquette in the Final Four, a crushing victory over Arizona State in the NCAA Tournament's second round, a tough-fought Big Monday victory over Texas and a come-from-behind victory over rival Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
Of course, it wasn't all good news for KU. Besides Simien's shoulder injury, the Jayhawks suffered a one-point defeat to Colorado that ended KU's Big 12 regular-season winning streak at 23, a tough loss to Missouri in the Big 12 semifinals and a horrible second-half collapse in a regular-season loss to Arizona. Not to mention the championship-game loss.
